GLD task forces for DCR

Charge of the task forces

The GLD outline document has been released at LCWS2006 at Bangalore. This document describes the baseline design, sub-detector design and R&D, and the expected performance of the GLD detector. This document, however, has a lot of missing issues of the detector study. In order to supplement these missing issues and give better inputs to the Detector Concept Report (DCR), task forces are formed with prioritized and selected tasks which should be completed by ECFA Workshop at Valencia, November 6-8, 2006.
At present, three task forces are formed; IR, PFA, and tracking. IR task force has been formed before the Snowmass workshop in 2005. Some of the study issues are common to other detector concepts, while some of them are specific to GLD. Therefore, these task forces should be open to people from other concept studies. Each task force should have the convener(s) to hold the regular meetings. At GLD general meetings which will be held every one or two months, the task force reports should be presented. For the communication and discussion in each task force, the mailing list of "lcdds" should be used in order to attract as much attention as possible.
IR task force
  1. Estimation of background with different configurations (DID/anti-DID, crossing angle, machine parameters, etc.) and optimization of masks
  2. Design of forward detectors and consideration on luminosity measurement and two-photon veto
PFA task force
  1. Implementation of the baseline design into JUPITER
  2. Study on effects of detector configuration (segmentation, strip/tile, lead/tungsten for EMCAL, lead/Fe for HCAL, etc.) as a function of jet energy
  3. PFA study including end-cap region
  4. Development of better algorithm
Tracking task force
  1. Development of track-finding program including TPC and Si inner tracker
  2. Optimization of number of layers of SIT
  3. Design study of Si end-cap tracker
  4. Choice of FIT technology: strip or pixel
  5. Assesment of Si outer tracker
